SCENTS ARE POWERFUL
This past weekend we setup a booth at a Women's Conference in Shelbyville, TN at Gateway Church. It was an uplifting conference with the theme UNASHAMED that was put on by a dear friend of mine, Amy Kinser. Women of all ages came together to stand firm in God's plan for them and were encouraged to show their scars without shame. If you want encouragement in this area, some of the inspiration for this conference came from Sharon Jaynes' book "Your scars are beautiful to God". Amy read some excerpts from the book for a beautiful sermon to encourage women to be proud of their journey; good and bad, God has a plan for it all.
The conference stirred something inside me, but that's not all. I was reminded of the power of scent and candles. You see, candles aren't always just candles, sometimes they are so much more.
We had a young lady come to our booth and as soon as she smelled our Porch Swing candle she stopped dead in her tracks and just kept smelling it. She continued to tell us a story of losing her young son recently. Someone had gifted her a candle that smells exactly like our Porch Swing candle. She told us she hasn't been able to find another candle that smells like it until she smelled ours. Smelling our candle took her back to that time, took her back to the comfort she felt when family and burning that candle helped her each day. We gifted her a Porch Swing spray to go with her candle and prolong her enjoyment of the fragrance, as well as the ability to take it anywhere with her. You see sometimes a fragrance feels like a hug, whether it's your mom's old perfume, the smell of a horse, or even just a candle.
